lfarm: A friend and I were discussing at lunch the seeming death of romance among young people in their 20’s. I hadn’t really given it much thought until she posed the question: “When is the last time a guy put in the effort to plan an evening of surprises, or cooked a dinner, or found a fun event for you two to do together?” […]Sneaking 40’s in to a movie theater is fun and romantic.
This is kind of true…in some cases. I find that the most enjoyment I get out of dates is when a guy plans the ENTIRE thing. I hate when we’re in the car or something and they’re like, “So what do you want to do? Where do you want to eat? Do you want dessert? What sounds fun?”…blah blah blah. I didn’t want to play 20 questions, I want to be on a date!
I enjoy actually having the guy plan out the whole night and surprise me. Like find a new, great restaurant that he wants us to try…Or maybe pull of something completely surprising liking making a picnic for the two of us. Or having a surprise day trip planned out that he wants me to go on….etc. I love dating and I think that the fun is in being spoiled and taken care of…and treated like a woman who deserves romance! It doesn’t even have to be expensive…just say there’s this new park/trail/walk/game etc. that he wants me to check out. That’s surprise enough for me! :)
